Terms of Service
Effective: 2026-07-12 · Last updated: 2026-07-12
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the SafeLoop mobile app and the website at safeloop.one (together, the “Service”), which is operated by SafeLoop (“SafeLoop”, “we”, “us”) from Bangalore, India. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICE
SafeLoop is not a substitute for emergency services.
If you or someone you care about is in danger, call your local emergency number immediately:
- United States: 911
- Europe: 112
- India: 100 (police), 108 (ambulance), 112 (unified)
- Or your local equivalent.
SafeLoop’s SOS, emergency-contact SMS handoff, and stale-check-in alerts are convenience features. They depend on your phone having signal, your device having power, your push tokens being registered, your circle members’ devices being reachable, third-party services (Apple, Google, Expo) being operational, and many other factors outside our control. The SOS button opens your phone’s native text app prefilled — you have to tap Send. We make no guarantee that any alert will be delivered, will be delivered on time, or will be seen by anyone.
Do not rely on SafeLoop as your only safety mechanism. Always have a way to reach actual emergency services.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use SafeLoop. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this age requirement.
If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction (typically 18), you confirm you have your parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to use the Service.
You may not use SafeLoop if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, or if your previous SafeLoop account was terminated for breach of these Terms.
4. Your account
4.1 Sign in
SafeLoop uses Apple Sign In and Google Sign In. We never store passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to your Apple ID or Google account secure — we treat anyone signed in as the legitimate account holder.
4.2 Accurate information
You agree to provide accurate, current information at sign-up (your real name and a real phone number where you can be reached). The Service is built on a circle of people who trust each other to be who they say they are, and your circle members rely on your information being accurate.
4.3 One account per person
You may create one account for personal, non-commercial use. Don’t create multiple accounts.
4.4 Account security
You’re responsible for activity that happens through your account. If you believe your account has been used without your permission, sign out of all sessions immediately and contact us.
5. Acceptable use
When you use SafeLoop, you agree NOT to:
- Use SafeLoop to stalk, harass, monitor, or intimidate anyone.
- Add anyone to your circle without their explicit consent. Circle membership is mutual — both parties must approve.
- Track a minor without their knowledge or their parent’s/guardian’s consent. Parental tracking is permitted with consent and full awareness.
- Use SafeLoop to enforce non-consensual surveillance of a partner, ex-partner, employee, or any other adult who has not freely agreed.
- Pretend to be someone else, or use a fake name to deceive your circle.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except as expressly permitted by law.
- Probe, scan, or test the security of our infrastructure without prior written authorization.
- Send abusive, threatening, illegal, or hateful content via SafeLoop features (mood text, status, trip names, feedback).
- Use SafeLoop to commit, plan, or facilitate a crime.
- Resell, rent, or sublicense the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that we determine, in good faith, has breached this section. Repeated or severe abuse may also be reported to relevant authorities.
6. Subscriptions and billing
6.1 Free trial
New accounts include a 30-day free trial of paid features. No card is charged during the trial. You can cancel at any time during the trial and will not be charged.
6.2 Paid features
After the trial, paid features (Trips creation, Auto check-in, certain alert send-rights) require an active subscription. Free features (Track, Circle invite + accept, manual check-ins, manual SOS with native SMS handoff to your emergency contact) remain available without a subscription.
The full free vs. paid breakdown is on safeloop.one/pricing.
6.3 Billing
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) under their respective standard subscription terms. SafeLoop does not collect or store your payment-card details.
- Auto-renewal: Apple and Google auto-renew subscriptions unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancellation: Manage and cancel your subscription in the App Store (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions) or Play Store (Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). SafeLoop cannot cancel on your behalf.
6.4 Refunds
Apple and Google handle refund requests under their own policies. We have no ability to issue refunds directly. To request a refund:
- App Store: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find the SafeLoop purchase, and tap Report.
- Play Store: open the Play Store, go to Account → Order history, find SafeLoop, and tap Request a refund.
If your refund request is denied by Apple or Google, email us at support@safeloop.one with the order details and we will do our best to escalate on your behalf, though the final decision remains with Apple or Google.
6.5 Price changes
If we change subscription prices, we will give existing subscribers at least 30 days’ notice in the app and via email. Price changes take effect on your next renewal — your current paid period is unaffected.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you provide to SafeLoop (your name, profile photo, mood text, status text, saved place names, etc.).
By providing content, you grant SafeLoop a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you and your circle. We do not use your content for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose other than running SafeLoop on your behalf.
8. Our intellectual property
The SafeLoop name, logo, app, website, design, and underlying code are owned by SafeLoop and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for using the Service in accordance with these Terms.
9. Termination
9.1 By you
You can terminate your account at any time via Settings → Delete account. Termination is immediate and irreversible — see the Privacy Policy (Section 7.3) for what happens to your data.
9.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if:
- You breach these Terms.
- We are required to do so by law.
- Continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to liability.
- The Service is discontinued (we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice in this case and help you export your data).
9.3 Effect of termination
On termination, your license to use the app ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (Sections 2, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) will survive.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.
- Location data, ETAs, route calculations, or arrival detection will be accurate, timely, or complete.
- Push notifications or SMS messages will be delivered, will be delivered on time, or will be received by the intended recipient.
- The Service will meet your specific needs or expectations.
You are responsible for evaluating whether SafeLoop is appropriate for your use case. For anything safety-critical, do not rely on SafeLoop alone.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SafeLoop, its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
- Loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
- Damages arising from any failure of an alert, notification, or SMS to reach its intended recipient.
- Damages arising from any third-party service we depend on (including but not limited to Apple, Google, Firebase, RevenueCat, Expo, your mobile carrier, and your internet provider).
- Damages arising from any conduct of another user, including a circle member.
If despite the above we are found liable, our total aggregate liability under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of:
- The amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or
- ₹1,000 / US $10.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SafeLoop and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, or damages (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of:
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your misuse of the Service.
- Your infringement of any third party’s rights.
- Any content you submitted to the Service.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
13.1 Informal resolution
Before filing any formal claim, please email us at support@safeloop.one with a clear description of the issue. We’ll work in good faith for 30 days to resolve it informally.
13.2 Binding arbitration
If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of these Terms or the Service shall be finally settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (India), with the seat of arbitration in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India and proceedings conducted in English. Each party bears its own costs unless the arbitrator awards otherwise.
13.3 No class actions
You agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative proceeding.
13.4 Exception
Nothing in this Section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual-property rights or to prevent ongoing harm pending arbitration.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as SafeLoop evolves. When we do, we will:
- Update the “Effective date” at the top.
- Post a prominent in-app notice for material changes.
- For changes that materially increase your obligations or reduce your rights, give you at least 30 days’ notice and an opportunity to terminate your account before the changes take effect.
Continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Miscellaneous
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Entire agreement. These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy and any platform-specific terms from Apple or Google) constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- Notices. We may send legal notices to the email associated with your account or by posting an in-app banner. You may send legal notices to us at support@safeloop.one.
